IFL - WEEK 7 - THE FROGS TRY TO JUMP THE SKORPIONS WHICH WITH A WELL PLACED TAIL STRIKE STING AGAIN AND REMAIN UNDEFATE 26 - 22

The Skorpions did it again, taking their fifth consecutive victory, the fourth away, maintaining their unbeaten record, but above all managing a match that at a certain point seemed like it could go the way of Legnano. The derby, historically, offers emotions, but those provided on Saturday evening at the Vigorelli in a balanced match, full of twists and turns, have few precedents in the history of the classic challenge of our football. Varese wins 26 to 22 thanks to an overtaking made about three minutes from the end, after an exchange of blows worthy of a title match for heavyweights in which the Legnano pairing of Eystin Salum and Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi seemed to have carried out the perfect crime with 22 points on the scoresheet, which is all those scored by the former Cleveland Browns receiver. The difficulty in gagging the talented number 15 in the black jersey is one of the key points of a match in which the Skorpions never became disunited, finding the advantage with Davide Silvestri, trying an initial attack with Maclaine Griffin and then getting back on track with two touchdowns by an inspired Roberto Zanovello. It goes without saying that the class of Ryan Griffin weighs heavily in all the scoring, the metronome of an attack that makes regularity its credo. A perfect alternation of gains on passes in the medium short range, some flashes over long distances and the right mix of runs are the basis of a perfectly oiled offensive system in which the former Buccaneers quarterback plays the part of the orchestra conductor, with a complete average that is unmatched in our championship and with only one interception conceded in five games. With this success, Varese continues its run arm in arm with the Ancona Dolphins, their next opponents at Franco Ossola on May 5th in what is already announced as the big match of the regular season. The Frogs deserve credit for never giving in mentally and praise for a resistance that failed only a few moments from the end when Eystin Salum, on a fourth attempt, did not find, due to the pressure of the Varese line, any reference on the which one to direct the last ball.
